The Far Right, ranging from right-wing populists to openly fascist movements, is gaining massive support across large parts of the Western world. This poses a serious threat to our democracies, our security, and our prosperity. It is a threat we need to counter.

 

In this event, we turn our attention to the concept of Antifascist Economics and explore how economic policy, economic thinking, and economics education should respond to the growing support for the Far Right.

The event begins with an introduction by Marius Ewert (Economists for Future), who presents the concept of Antifascist Economics and explains how wealth inequality, the provision of public goods, and the state of social and political institutions are connected to both the rise of and the efforts to counter fascist forces.

This will be followed by a discussion on how the protection of democracy and Antifascist Economics can be incorporated into economics education as such. The event will conclude with an opportunity for participants to ask questions.​
